Getting used to my new partner

Wednesday, February 6, 2019

Dear Thomas,

Last night, I explored my new travel mate, poking here and there, trying to learn his language. But by bedtime, my head was spinning.

I realized I’ve been with Apple so long. I didn’t figure it would be so challenging to learn to click here, not there, swipe this way,not that.

Do you know what I’m saying? Do you have any idea?

I spoke Apple for so long, swore by Apple and dreamed in Apple. But over the last six months, she became too old and was considered not worthy of a makeover. Everyone looked at her like she was scrap metal.

“She’s so heavy.”

“So slow.”

Richard was the one to suggest I make the switch, “before it was too late,” he said.

I know, people make changes like this all the time. It’s just that she was part of my life before we bought your house. She listened and recorded all the tales, both good and bad.

I’ll be fine. Give me a couple days. Maybe a week or a month. I swear I’ll be nice to my new partner.

Until next time, your house’s faithful caretaker,

Marilee

This captures the frustration of switching ecosystems perfectly. It takes patience to unlearn muscle memory. While you wait to get used to the new gestures, you could always relax with an arrow puzzle to train your focus elsewhere.

I can relate to this feeling of adjusting to something new after being comfortable with the old one for so long. Changes can feel difficult at first, especially when we are used to a certain system and routine. Just like learning a new device takes time, creating or managing new designs also requires adapting to new methods. For anyone looking to improve their design quality and workflow, professional vectorizing services can help transform ideas into clean, usable artwork that works better across different platforms.

Switching tech ecosystems after so many years is definitely a shock to the system! It’s fascinating how our devices become emotional anchors, holding so many personal memories even when they're deemed too heavy or slow. But in the fast-paced world of technology, fish eat fish, and learning to adapt is just part of the upgrade journey. Give yourself a little time to master the new clicks and swipes, and your new partner will soon feel like home.

I’ve experienced that same mental exhaustion when trying to rewire my muscle memory for a new operating system after years of loyalty. It’s a lot like trying to master the precise timing of the FNF rhythm game, where the boyfriend competes against all opponents to win the girlfriend's love. Once you find your new flow, those confusing swipes will finally start to click.
