Hand written notes are priceless.

Updated: Jun 25, 2021

Dear Thomas, Hand written notes are priceless. To this day, I value them more than any gift.

I think you were like minded as you didn't leave any letters buried inside the walls of your house. I would have found them far more valuable than a piece of jewelry...unless there was a note with it.

Due to the Pandemic still not under control, we chose to extend our break. Since then, we've received the kindest letters from guests including this one. Someday, I will leave it with your house.

You know, there is something about a handwritten note that makes my heart melt, even when you know it's coming.

Our son Sam wasn't able to travel to the inn for the holidays due to the Pandemic. He lives in California. I asked him to write me a letter as a gift. Instead, he wrote 13. The one for Christmas arrived along with a second one. The smaller note is one of 12, he explained. We'll receive a new one each month.

On the top half of the card, he wrote to me and on the bottom to Richard. These will be passed on to him and someday, to his children.

I'm not big on New Year's Eve resolutions because most of the time I don't follow through. But I'm going to make a serious effort this year to return to hand written notes, on pretty cards in sweet envelopes that arrive in the mailbox. To me, these are priceless.
